The Other Side

How many of us are forgetful or know someone who is? Do you have to set reminders in your phone or write them down on sticky notes just to lose them too? Without consistent reminders we suffer from the consequences of forgetfulness. And just like our day-to-day things we often forget the importance of spiritual things. For example, how good and faithful God is. Sometimes when life gets hard, we may question if He will, or even can, help us.

2 Timothy 2:13 states: Even when we are not faithful to God, He is still faithful to us.

So, what does this mean for us today? Sometimes we forget all that God has done for us in our lives just like they did in Joshua. Joshua was leading the Israelites out of the wilderness and toward the Promised Land. As they crossed the Jordan, God tells them to build a memorial not only for them to remember His faithfulness, but so that others will come to know Him because of it.

It is so easy for us to forget how we have seen God work- especially in dark times in our life, and like the Israelites, we need a reminder. When we look back at our lives and remember everything He has done for us, it helps us trust Him again when life gets difficult.

What are you walking through right now? You may feel overwhelmed or discouraged. You may feel like God has abandoned you but always remember He has always been faithful to us, even when we have not been faithful to Him.

This week let us take the focus off us and focus on being faithful to The One who has always been faithful to us.
