I never thought it would happen. There’s no sports and I can’t watch something I already know the outcome. I like to watch people but I haven’t had a variety of people to watch so something happened that I never thought would happen. I’ve become a bird watcher.
I mean I didn’t plan it, I never had it on my bucket list but here I am. Let me be clear, I am not knocking bird watching and I think it may be something I like. I’ve seen cardinals, blue jays, robins, a woodpecker (YES!) and a whole lot more that I have no idea what they are. They each have a pattern about them, different noises they make, different ways they interact. They all seem to have this about them too, they don’t seem anxious.
Matthew 6:26 reminds me…Consider the birds of the sky: They don’t sow or reap or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you worth more than they?
I’m not saying they aren’t in harm’s way or that life isn’t tough for them. I’m just saying they seem at peace with it all. They aren’t overthinking the day or focusing on something they can’t control. They keep their pattern about them, they keep making their different noises and they keep interacting the same. They just don’t seem anxious. Maybe Matthew 26 is telling me more than I bargained for! Watching birds has really opened me up to the question, “Aren’t you worth more than the birds?” You know what; YES, I am worth more than the birds. It’s not just me saying that, it’s God’s word saying that.
I never thought it would happen. I’ve become a bird watcher and I’ve learned from watching these birds. Now, if I can just figure out how they keep depending on God for everything they need. Consider the birds of the sky for a moment. This bird watching may just change the way I live life. Oh and by the way, you are worth more than the birds too! I hope you watch them and it changes the way you live.
Until we see each other again
