Our Story
Who We Were Then
East End Baptist Church
East End Baptist Church began as a mission of Calvary Baptist Church and the first Sunday school was held in 1945

College Avenue Baptist Church
In 1917 five (5) men representing two (2) established churches envisioned the development of south Bluefield. These men purchased land themselves for the purpose of building a church and handed the land over to First Baptist Church.
In 1923 church began in south Bluefield with 211 members.
The Bluefield Daily Telegraph went on to editorialize, “Every member of the new organization is brim full of energy and enthusiasm for the work, and confident of its success.”
Who We Are Now
College Avenue Baptist Church
In August of 2017, these two churches and ministries would collide. After careful prayer and discussion, both churches realized that each vision could be accomplished by merging to form one (1) church.
The name College Avenue Baptist Church would remain while understanding the church would never be the same. A new launch began and restoration of the College Avenue facilities were underway. A revitalization of members is beginning to show as work progresses. The church body is experiencing a renewed energy, enthusiasm and confidence.
Who We Will Become
While both churches leave behind rich legacies, we are now focused on our future together. The year 2018 marked the beginning of a new chapter in the life of College Avenue Baptist Church as we devoted ourselves to the work started in south Bluefield. We are aware of the challenges that lie ahead, yet we, just like then, are confident of its success. God is amazing at finishing what he has started. We would love for you to join us in our mission to fulfill the great commission.
